Phil has ministered at St. Michael’s since April 2014. Prior to that, he lived in Ormskirk, Lancashire where he served as curate of Christ Church Aughton. Phil is married to Helen and they have two children, James and Alice.
Before Ormskirk, Phil spent three years in Oxford, where he trained for ordained ministry at Wycliffe Hall, one of the Church of England’s theological colleges. It was at Wycliffe Hall that his ministry priorities of evangelism and Bible teaching were cultivated. Phil writes: “I am passionate that people from every background should have the opportunity to come to know the Lord Jesus and grow as his disciples. This goal is well-served when the Bible is faithfully taught and prayerfully applied to people’s lives.”
Prior to ordination Phil worked as an economist at HM Treasury in Westminster for seven years, doing his best to juggle the nation’s finances! During this period he and Helen lived in Raynes Park, a pleasant suburban area of south west London with many similarities to Gidea Park. Phil’s south London background explains one of his sporting interests, namely a passion for Crystal Palace FC. As well as football, he enjoys cycling, squash and a round of golf.
